we rock the spectrum kid's gym family

Gail and John Field

When one would meet Gail, you would assume that she was a typical suburban wife, and mother to three beautiful children. “However, my life is not typical at all!”says Gail. She has been a West Boca Raton resident for fourteen years and has been raising two children who are now becoming young adults. Four years ago she was blessed with a surprise pregnancy and had a baby boy at the age of 40. Being an older mom made her worry, but Gail and her husband John embraced the future with their newborn son.

When their son was six months old she started questioning herself and began asking why he wasn’t doing the certain milestones that other typical boys did at certain ages. People said she was just being neurotic and the pediatricians kept telling her that there was no cause for concern. “Every time I went to the doctor’s office I voiced my opinions with heart-wrenching questions, I knew in my head and my heart something was seriously wrong with my beautiful baby boy. I would lay in my bed and cry because I watched my son deteriorate in front of my eyes” said Gail. Their son Jayson was diagnosed at eighteen months with PDD, a form of autism spectrum disorder. It has been quite a journey the past couple of years for the Field’s. While learning and growing every day, Jayson participates in several different types of therapy, as early intervention is essential for children who are diagnosed with disorders such as ASD.

One rainy day, she wanted to take Jayson somewhere fun, somewhere that wasn’t your typical sensory overload kids place, a place where I didn’t have to say I am sorry every five minutes because Jayson was a little different, or not up to par with the other kids, where we felt welcome. With this constant scenario she started googling and couldn’t find anything in South Florida to accommodate her child or any other child with disorders such as these. Gail’s research did not stop, she went further and found a place in California. She went on the website and read about We Rock The Spectrum Kids Gym for all Kids and thought what an amazing place this is, their motto is FINALLY A PLACE WHERE YOU NEVER HAVE TO SAY SORRY! She knew this looked like a place she could call home and after reading further saw they had franchising opportunities.

Her life has been centered around her son, knowing full well that she would have to be the one to find and seek opportunities to safeguard his future. Every mother of a toddler is tired, yet Gail knew that she could not sit back and accept what limited resources there were in South Florida. After many phone calls and emails with Corporate she was able to meet the founder of WRTS, Dina Kimmel. Gail did a tremendous amount of research and had several correspondents with the founder over a 3 month period of time. She and her husband then decided to bring WRTS to Boca Raton and they signed up December 26th, 2013. Gail describes herself as “not a wealthy woman and we are just a normal family living paycheck to paycheck.” But, deep in her heart, she believed this is what her journey and path was supposed to be. WRTS/Boca Raton will not just benefit their son Jayson, but all of the children in the South Florida area and for that she is forever grateful! After taking a trip to Southern California and visiting many of the locations, she new she had met her new family. “They embraced me with open arms. It was overwhelming to see the love and support, the difference these facilities were making, and that their son loved to play in each and every We Rock!” Their journey now begins, as they are the first WRTS in Florida!
